About the Project

We give assistance to children aged 3 to 18+, referred to us by the Child Development Unit, and we provide them shelter, the basic needs, but also quality education. We also provide activities for the holistic development of our beneficiaries.

We also conduct community work with families below poverty line where we ensure that the children are given proper attention by their own parents, and also cater for their educational and psychological support. We also provide school fees for those attending specialised schools. Part of the funding for this project goes towards education which is the most important aspect of our intervention.

About the NGO

Etoile du Berger is officially recognised as a charitable, non-profit organisation whose objective is to undertake activities for the rehabilitation of children of vulnerable groups including the running of a Centre to care for children in need.

Specialised in residential care for children, L'Etoile du Berger also prepares for their entry into adulthood. We give a home and support to children as from the age of three.

The first “Maison D’Accueil” situated at Shebeck Avenue, Albion, was operational in November 2011, where we welcomed 11 children, aged 4 to 10. In January 2014, we opened a second house in Albion, to accommodate our young boys who reach the age of 10/11. In January 2015 we opened our 3rd house in Roches-Brunes to accommodate our young girls who have attained the age of 10/11. In August 2015 a Half Way was opened to accommodate young adults aged 18+ because there was a lack of structure to care for this category of citizens.

Finally we started our outreach program to support families of the most deprived areas so that their children are well looked after.
